 Mr Eric Irigodomo, the Headteacher of Wiasekrom District Assembly Basic School in the Tain District of the Bono Region has appealed for classroom blocks to improve teaching and learning.  
He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Wiasekrom, a predominantly farming community that the school had only three classroom blocks, worrying that classes sessions were held for many of the school children under dilapidated structures.
Mr Irigodomo made the appeal, when MercyMe Anidaso International, a non-governmental organisation, presented teaching and learning materials worth GH¢100,000 to the school.
They include 1,800 exercise books, quantities of notebooks, 800 pens, pencils and erasers, 100 pieces of school bags and school uniforms.
Mr Irigodomo said the Tain District Assembly built the three classroom blocks which were not enough to accommodate the kindergarten to the class six pupils.
“The structures we are presenting using for classes unfriendly for teaching and learning”, he stated and appealed to NGOs and corporate bodies to come to their aid.
Madam Juliet Aba Biney, the Chief Executive Officer of the MercyMe Anidaso International, said the NGO was a Christian-child centered development organisation.
She said the NGO worked to improve the welfare of vulnerable people and families in deprived communities, fighting against poverty and injustice too.
Mad Biney commended the teachers of the school for their dedicated services, despite some challenges including inadequate teaching materials and deplorable condition of some of the classrooms.
She appealed to the government and benevolent organizations to support and improve the school’s learning and teaching environment.
