Eyewitnesses say the victim was attempting to cross the railway tracks with a young boy, believed to be about two years old, when the unfortunate incident happened.
While details remain unclear, some witnesses suggest that the boy may have strayed toward the tracks, and in an attempt to rescue him, the woman got trapped.
Others claim she was wearing earphones and may not have heard the train’s horn in time.
The train, which was moving at high speed, ran over the woman, crushing her head.
The train stopped a few meters away but resumed its journey shortly after, leaving the woman’s mutilated body behind.
The Community 25 Police have since commeced investigations into the incident as Mr Isaac Newton Tetteh, Assembly Member for the Nmlitsakpo Electoral Area confirmed.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, but concerns have been raised about safety measures along the railway line to prevent such accidents in the future.
