A Former Deputy Minister of State, Mr Abu Kansangbata, has commended the National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and the Director of Elections, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, for their commitment in ensuring a free, fair, and transparent electoral process ahead of the 2024 elections.

Mr  Kansangbata also lauded them for their boldness, decisiveness, and dedication, as demonstrated in their recent engagement with the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana. Their aggressive posturing, he remarked, had not only strengthened the party’s position, but also enhanced the democratic process by advocating fairness and justice in the electoral system.

“The confidence and determination exhibited by our gallant General Secretary and Director of Elections in safeguarding the principles of democracy are indeed commendable,” Mr  Kansangbata stated. It is clear that they are responding to the call of our party base, standing firm in the pursuit of justice, equality, and fairness.”

In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Sunday,  Mr Kansangbata underscored the importance of the EC working religiously and impartially with all political parties and independent candidates contesting the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He emphasized that it was crucial for the EC, as an independent body, to adhere strictly to the rules governing the electoral process and ensure an open and transparent election that reflected the will of the Ghanaian people.

“As a committed member of the NDC, I proudly associate myself with the actions and resolve shown by our national executives. Their fight for justice and transparency is not just for our party, but for all Ghanaians who are yearning for a change from the excruciating hardship, poverty, and mismanagement of the economy under the current administration,”

He called on the leadership of the NDC to continue with this spirit of patriotism and teamwork, working together to inspire hope among Ghanaians and affirmed his belief that the dedication of the party’s leadership would lead to a renewed sense of confidence, not just within the party’s rank and file but also among the majority of Ghanaians who are crying out for accountability and proper governance.

He úrged all political actors and stakeholders to respect the democratic process and contribute positively to ensuring that the upcoming elections are conducted in a manner that would uphold Ghana’s hard-won democratic credibility.
