Peki (V/R)-Ghana, Oct. 28, GNA – Mr Churchill Oforikumah, the Assembly member for Peki-Dzogbati in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region, has presented educational materials to some basic school pupils in the area to enhance their studies.
The pupils, from Peki-Dzogbati, Dunamis Preparatory, and GOVCO Demonstration Basic schools received school bags, notebooks, exercise books, pens, pencils and mathematical sets.
Mr Oforikumah told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that learners became motivated when the needed materials were made available to them.
“This is to motivate the pupils, inspire them and encourage them to see education as paramount to their future success to put in much effort,” he said.
The Assembly member advised the pupils to focus on their studies, cultivate reading habits and avoid activities that would jeopardise their progress.
He said some parents, due to financial difficulties, were unable to support their children in school, which had a serious toll on their academic performance.
He appealed to all to support the government in providing quality education to children to prepare them for future leadership roles.
Mr Maurice Hini, the Headteacher of Peki-Dzogbati Basic School, commended the Assembly member for the continued assistance towards quality education in the area.
Madam Seyram Clara Bansah, a parent, expressed appreciation for the gesture and appealed to other benevolent organisations and philanthropists to go to the aid of the pupils.
