Aboabo Number Two (B/R)-Ghana, Nov. 14, GNA – Madam Nancy Yeboah, the incumbent Assembly Member for Aboabo Number Two Electoral Area in the Dormaa Central Municipality has appealed to electorate to vote and retain her in the upcoming District Level Assembly Elections.

She emphasised she deserved to be retained based on her proven record and pledged to continue with the many development initiatives she had introduced to better the lives of the constituents.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Aboabo Number Two in the Municipality, Mad Yeboah described her initiatives and achievements as novelty, unprecedented and a model for the three Aboabo communities in the Municipality.

The incumbent Assemblywoman, who said she was in the race with two other male aspirants, enumerated several initiatives she had implemented, including the delivery of COVID-19 health safety materials such as hand sanitisers, Veronica Buckets, and face masks to the communities.

Mad Yeboah expressed concern about the general lack of confidence, leadership skills and governance among some women, as well the failure of some men in the area to support their wives to engage in politics.

This situation, she added, hindered most women from participating in decision making and local governance.

“Some men feel that when they allow their wives to engage in politics, they would lose control over them, while others have the wrong perception domestic chores are traditionally reserved for men”, she stated.

Though voluntary, Mad Yeboah indicated the work of the assembly members was herculean, and therefore advocated payment of monthly allowances to support assembly members.

She condemned the bahaviour of some assembly members who remained partisan in the discharge of their duties, saying, assembly members ought to work for the collective interest of the constituents.

Mad Yeboah stressed her commitment to continue working with NGOs and other development partners, to push the holistic development of the area.

“I am currently working and collaborating with some NGOs to assist orphans, provide learning materials, and streetlights for the local Salvation Army Senior High School as well as extend the school feeding programme to the school pupils of the Roman Catholic Primary School”, she stated.

As the first elected female assembly member of the area, Mad Yeboah expressed appreciation to the electorate for their support and to them to retain her and commended Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, the Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Area for his effort to control illegal logging and mining in the area.

She also thanked the paramount chief for providing dustbins to the community to enhance the sanitary situation of the area.
