The Chiefs and people of Ehi in the Volta Region have launched this year’s ’Ehi Nutome Gali Za’ on the theme “Rallying for Development.”

The event, which was launched at Adelakoekorfe, a suburb of Ehi on Saturday, is an agro-based festival celebrated by the Chiefs and people of the area.

Torgbui Dzeble Adukpo IV, the ‘Dufia’ of Ehi and a Senior Divisional Chief of the Weta Traditional Council, in a welcome address, emphasised that development remained a collective ambition and a shared journey toward a brighter future for the area.

He indicated that the construction of roads, schools, and other better opportunities were achieved through the collective efforts of modern governance systems, businesses, and communities working together.

Torgbui Adukpo, however, noted that the town was still faced with economic, social, and environmental challenges, which required all hands on the deck.

“Development is not just about infrastructure or individual wealth. It is about empowering every individual and ensuring no one is left behind.”

He urged everyone, especially the indigenes of Ehi and its environs, to support the development of their seventeen communities within the area.

Mrs Grace Amexo-Gbetornyeku, a Supply Chain Manager at Gokals-Laborex Limited, a pharmaceutical branch of CFAO-Ghana, who was the Guest Speaker at the launch, expressed excitement about the theme.

She pointed out that every community was expected to grow and develop over time.

Mrs Amexo-Gbetornyeku drew parallels with developed countries, noting that they started in a small way but advanced through persistent efforts.

She urged the people of Ehi to accelerate the growth and development of their community.

Mrs Amexo-Gbetornyeku stressed the importance of respecting authority, understanding individual roles and responsibilities, and fostering teamwork and collaboration for development and nation-building.

Torgbui Akpo Ashiakpor VI, the Paramount Chief and President of the Weta Traditional Council, appealed to all to use the festival as a medium of unity among the youth and households in the area.

He suggested that every division in Weta should have a festival aimed at promoting unity and development.

Representatives from the two main political parties and their parliamentary candidates also attended the event to convey their good wishes.

‘Ehi Nutome Gali Za’ placed importance on the production of gari, a staple food in West Africa for which Ehi is renowned.

The festival features a week-long series of activities held in the last week of September, culminating in a colorful gathering of Chiefs and people on the final Saturday of the month.

The launch aimed to bring stakeholders together to support and raise funds for the main festival, and to enable the media to spread the festival’s message nationwide and beyond.

The event was attended by all Chiefs and Queen Mothers from Ehi

Various drumming groups and cultural troupes from Ehi and its environs also graced the occasion.
