The Ghana Education Service (GES) has given assurance that it will collaborate with the security agencies to ensure justice for the student stabbed to death by his colleague at the O’Reilly Senior High School.

Dr Eric Nkansah, Director General of the GES gave the assurance, when he led a delegation from the Service to commiserate, in Accra, with the family of the deceased student, Master Edward Borketey Sackey.

He said the GES was deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred in the school resulting in the loss of the final year student.

“The Ghana Education Service (GES) is deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred at O’Reilly Senior High School, resulting in the loss of a final-year student, Master Edward Sackey.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the bereaved family, friends, and the entire school community,” he stated.

Edward Borketey Sackey, an 18-year-old final-year student of O’Reilly Senior High School in Accra, was stabbed to death following an argument with a colleague in the school.

Dr Nkansah said the GES had begun investigations into the incident and the committee had two weeks to finish their work, adding that, the Ghana Police Service was handling the criminal aspect of the case.

He said calm had restored on the school campus and indicated that the Ghana Education Service would continue to work to ensure the well-being and safety of all students and staff in the school.

“We will continue to support the school and assure the public that we are working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure a thorough investigation,” he stated.

He explained that his outfit would remain committed to providing a secure and conducive learning environment for all students and continue to work tirelessly to prevent such incidents and ensure that schools remained safe places for academic work.
