Ms. Zelda Nana Yaa Adepa Dedaa Mantaew, also known as DJ Zel, has stated the need to urgently support the less privileged in society, especially children.

According to the award-winning UK-based young Disc Jockey, many children in Ghana grow without having the opportunities to exhibit their talents.

She looks to bridge this gap with various initiatives that she plans to embark on across the country.

Speaking in an interview after her arrival at the Kotoko International Airport, DJ Zel explained that she plans to support schools with books and stationery in Saltpond in the Central Region.

Also, she was in Ghana to support Ga Mantse’s Educational Support Fund, which would go a long way towards benefiting society.

“I want to support children who don’t have the same opportunities that other people do and make them realise their dreams.

Her mother, Jenifer Nana Boahemaa Mantaew, said, “She is 14 years old and has done so much at her age. She is here to donate thousands of books and stationery to schools.

“When she turned eight, her dad was in Ghana, and she came to me and said, Mummy, I want to be a DJ, and I was like DJ is a job dominated by men, but she said she wanted to do it.

“So I convinced her dad, and we had to enrol her in one of the best DJ schools in the UK. She came to Ghana in 2015 and realised the plight of some children and decided to help.”

In 2019, DJ Zel was adjudged the Best Oustanding Young DJ of the Year at the NELAS Awards in the United Kingdom.
