Emelia Arthur and partners provide free health care for Shama

A Thirty-five medical team from the Buffalo University in the USA, the University of Professional Studies and the Shama Member of Parliament have collaborated to provide free healthcare for the people of the district.

The medical Outreach, to run from 29 to 30 of December, would enable community members to screen for various ailment including dental, eye, general illness, diabetes and hypertensShamaion among others.

Madam Emelia Arthur told the Ghana News Agency that the outreach would promote a healthy community to ensure that productivity thrived in the coming year.

The project was also supported by the Shama District Assembly, Lower Pra Rural Bank, VRA and Health professionals drawn from facilities in the district.

The MP said, aside the health outreach, she had distributed various gift items to children in the community to make their celebration memorable.

She said the Adwuma and Nkwado project was also helping drivers and other businesses to acquire logistics on pay and own system to empower and create jobs.

Also, some 13 boreholes had been drilled for the district to ensure cleaner water supply.

Mr Ernest Nii Tackie-Otoo, the Chief Executive Officer of the Lower Pra Rural Bank described the project as a key intervention to create a healthy society and pledged their banks support to paying any outstanding cost that may be incurred.

He said the bank saw corporate social responsibility as key to building robust bond with communities and said, the bank would not relent on helping the communities around the bank to grow.

Madam Kailyn Huh, Pre-Dental Care Officer with the Experience Africa Team from the University of Buffalo gladly observed and treated the teeth of children amid play and toffees.

She urged parents to take good care of their children’s teeth to avoid the development of stains and cavities.
