Fans have been reacting to Afua Asantewaa’s “next line of action” following unsuccessful attempt at breaking The Guinness World Record (GWR) at her singing marathon.
Afua Asantewaa in an X (Twitter) post at the weekend said she received news about the outcome of her Sing-a-thon attempt while preparing to host a gala dinner, and that she would announce her “next line of action in a few days”.
Some of her followers, responding to the post, said they were anticipating the “next move,” while others cracked jokes and passed unsavory comments. “Next is cry-a- thon?,” a supporter asked.
“Her Excellency, you’re still a winner. Forget the trolls. It will fade away in few days. Just keep being awesome. I know you’ll change the narrative as you’ve always done…All the best,” a follower said.
“You’ve won our heart…we will always be proud of your attempts and achievement…I will support you to attempt it 300 times if you need that number of attempts to make it…You are a winner already,” another added.
Last December, Afua Asantewaa sang for a total of 126 hours and 53 minutes in her quest to break India’s Sunil Waghmare record of 105 hours set in 2012.
But GWR, the official body mandated to verify the attempt, said the attempt was not successful, and did not provide any public explanation.
“Unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon.
“We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month.
“We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempt,” Guinness World Records posted on social media.
