New emoluments policy to reform public sector pay

Accra-Ghana, Nov. 11, GNA – Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement System (GhIPSS) and its Chief Executive Archie Hesse picked up awards at this year’s Ghana Information Technology and Telecoms Awards (GITTA) held in Accra.
Mr Hesse was named among the Top 20 Tech Leaders in Africa while GhIPSS was awarded for excellence in promoting financial inclusion.
GITTA, which is in its 12th year, was created as a strategic platform to recognize, reward, and showcase the pioneering ICT initiatives driving Ghanaian private and public sector innovation.
The award has a vision of setting a benchmark for the sub-region’s wave of development in ICT.
The awards recognize digitization across all sectors, including the Public Sector, Banking, FinTech, Telecoms, ICT, Manufacturing, Agriculture, and Health, among others.
GhIPSS and its Boss are regular recipients of GITTA awards due to their continuous contribution to the payment industry in Ghana.
GhIPSS was set up some 15 years ago to modernize Ghana’s payment system and to migrate the country into an electronic payment society.
Mr Hesse, who is the second Chief Executive of the company, has played a lead role in its success since its inception.
The wholly owned subsidiary of the Bank of Ghana, earlier this year, together with banks and other financial sector players launched GhanaPay, which is a bank-wide mobile money service with enhanced features.
Commenting on the awards, Mr Hesse said he felt motivated to continue to work hard to deepen financial inclusion and also to reduce the cash dominance in the economy.
He dedicated the award to the staff and said GhIPSS would continue to work with its partners to firmly place Ghana in the league of countries with modernized payment systems.
