The Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) which has for years engaged in finance and economic analysis hasfor the past year invested over GHC827 000 in a full-scale poultry egg and meat production housing and residential facility.

Expecting to scale up to 30,000 birds in the coming months, the multi-proposed Agro-Processing project is currently with the capacity of producing 5,000 eggs daily during peak periods to augment domestic shortfalls.

At the end of the laying cycle, the chicken meat will be processed into a tasty canned chicken sauce for the AfCFTA market, a statement signed by Mr Selasi Koffi Ackom, Chief Executive Officer of GITFiC and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra has said.

The statement said the bankable project was managed and supervised by a 30-year experienced animal production expert from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, attached as a supportive mechanism to oversee and spearhead success.

It said negotiation for the specified processing plant was done, and an invoice had been submitted, while Construction of the processing factory was expected to commence in March 2025.

The statement said the farm was located in the eastern region on a total Land Size of five acres

It said the project was calculated at raking in revenue to sustain and accelerate the GITFiC’s programmes and activities which had over the years expanded from a National entity into a Continental entity and now a Global entity with the coming onboard; ‘our Global Debt Initiative on Debt Management, Debt Sustainability, and Debt Cancellation. With donor-fatigue staring right in our faces, the need to increase our IGF is inevitable, or else we risk a total shutdown of our operations’.

In another development, Mr Ackom, the GITFiC CEO has represented Ghana at the United Nations Economic Community for Africa’s high level intergovernmental Committee Meeting in Rabat, Morocco as a special guest and a resource person.

On the sideline, he held bilateral meetings with Morocco’s senior government officials at their various ministries.

At Morocco’s ministry of Industry and Commerce, he discussed GITFiC’s AfCFTA implementation support programmes where he officially introduced AfCFTA Tertiary Students Club, about to be launched AfCFTA Curriculum for Africa’s Tertiary Schools and the need to increase trade between the two countries.

The Moroccan counterpart recommended the formation of a committee to look into trade matters by identifying commodities of mutual interest and submit same for consideration under the Guided Trade Initiative of the AfCFTA.

The statement said GITFiC reported this to MOTI and the formation of a joint committee chaired by The GITFiC is underway.

On the economy, he held a diplomatic meeting with Morocco’s Ministry of Economy and Finance.

“We discussed GITFiC’s Global Debt Initiative in collaboration with the United Nations and AfDB and invited The Kingdom of Morocco to join the initiative and spearhead same. I also invited The Kingdom of Morocco to host the second meeting in Rabat next year. The invitation was met with gross interest and willingness. Discussion on modalities are underway. This has equally been communicated to our sector ministry”.
