As a result, the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department ensured beneficiaries were paid during the January 2025 payment window.
A statement from the Public Affairs Unit of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), shared with the Ghana News Agency, confirmed that the research allowance top-up had been paid to all Colleges of Education, except Akrokerri College of Education, which is still being processed.
The statement reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing any post-migration issues that may arise.
“We believe that a harmonious and collaborative approach is essential in addressing the concerns of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) and ensuring the smooth operation of the Colleges of Education.
“We remain open to dialogue and look forward to working with CETAG to find mutually beneficial solutions,” it said.
The leadership of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) commended all parties involved for their hard work in resolving CETAG’s concerns.
CETAG had announced an indefinite strike, which began on Thursday, January 2, 2025, due to unresolved labour issues.
In response to a directive from the National Labour Commission, the government formed a Migration Committee on August 29, 2024, to transition CETAG members onto the public university grade structure.
The committee included representatives from the FWSC, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, Ministry of Finance, Controller and Accountant General Department, Ministry of Education, and the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education.
