Mrs Efua Houadjeto, the Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has received two major honours on the national and international stage, reinforcing Ghana’s growing influence within the global tourism and cultural landscape.

In Ghana, Mrs Houadjeto was honoured at the 15th Goldbond Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards, held on February 7, 2026, organised by Big Events Ghana.

The ceremony brought together leading figures from the media, entertainment, business, and public service sectors to celebrate excellence and national impact.

A release issued to the Ghana News Agency on Saturday in Accra said she was recognised for her exceptional role in promoting Ghana’s tourism on the global stage.

It was also in recognition of her visionary leadership in repositioning the country as a premier tourism and cultural destination.  GTA

The award cited her strategic drive to strengthening Ghana’s global tourism brand, deepening international partnerships, and leveraging cultural diplomacy as a catalyst for economic growth.

On the international front, the CEO was honoured with the Global Cultural Ambassador Award at a high-profile Pre-Grammy event in Beverly Hills, ahead of the 2026 Grammy Awards celebrations.

The recognition is reserved for distinguished global leaders who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting culture, heritage, and creative industries beyond their national borders.

The citation accompanying the award commended her bold leadership, strategic repositioning of Ghana’s tourism brand, and sustained advocacy for integrating culture and creative arts into mainstream economic development.

“Her recognition on the Pre-Grammy platform, placed Ghana firmly on the global cultural map and reinforced the country’s rising influence within the international tourism and creative arts ecosystem,” it read.

“Since assuming office, Mrs Houadjeto had led a renewed push to elevate Ghana’s presence on major international platforms, aligned tourism promotion with the creative arts industry, and expanded structured engagement with the diaspora community.”

“Her administration has prioritised destination branding, stakeholder collaboration, market diversification, and heritage-driven campaigns that position Ghana as a vibrant and welcoming destination.”

“By bridging tourism with music, film, fashion, cuisine, festivals, and the performing arts, she has advanced a modern understanding of tourism, one rooted in storytelling, identity, and economic empowerment.”

The release noted that through targeted stakeholder engagements and policy-driven interventions, Mrs Houadjeto had worked to formalise segments of the creative value chain to ensure practitioners benefitted meaningfully from Ghana’s cultural exports.

The two recognitions underscored the growing impact of her leadership and affirmed the strengthened global positioning of the GTA under her stewardship, sending a clear message that Ghana was not just a destination, but a cultural powerhouse shaping its narrative on the world stage.

Mrs Houadjeto dedicated the awards to Ghana’s tourism industry, the creative community, media partners, and all stakeholders whose collaboration continues to project Ghana positively on the global stage.
