The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) has engaged members of the Ghana Progressive Hotels Association (GHAPROHA) on emerging tourism market prospects, with a strong focus on the use of digital tools to grow the hospitality industry.

The engagement, held in Tema, took the form of a seminar under the theme: “Digital Marketing for the Hospitality Industry.”

Professor Kobby Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer of GTDC, said hoteliers could leverage modern technologies to drive traffic to their facilities and expand their market reach.

Professor Mensah urged players in the tourism value chain to take full advantage of the Ghana Tourism Market Platform, noting that it provided a strategic opportunity to promote hospitality facilities and tourism destinations to a global audience.

He stated that digital visibility had become critical in today’s tourism business, stressing that hotels that failed to adapt risked being left behind.

Prof. Mensah further hinted that Ghana had the potential to position itself as a major tourism hub in Africa, adding that hoteliers must strategically align their services, branding and online presence to benefit from the anticipated growth in the sector.

He encouraged hotel operators to see themselves as ambassadors of Ghana’s tourism industry and to use digital marketing to showcase the country’s rich culture, heritage and hospitality.

Mr Emmanuel Geadda Asando, the National President of GHAPROHA, expressed gratitude to the GTDC and Professor Mensah for the insightful presentations delivered during the seminar.

Mr Asando said the engagement equipped members with practical knowledge that would help boost tourism business, particularly within the Tema Metropolis.

He noted that the platform would enable hoteliers to better promote their facilities while projecting Ghana’s diverse tourism attractions to the rest of the world.

The seminar formed part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between tourism institutions and industry players to enhance Ghana’s tourism competitiveness.
