Ho-Ghana, Nov. 30, GNA – The Hohoe Municipal Assembly as part of activities marking this year’s Volta Trade and Investment Fair, has presented opportunities available to woo investors into the Municipality.
The Municipality’s opportunities and potentials are agriculture, eco-tourism light industries and hospitality and recreation.
Mr Gershon Tudoabor, Hohoe Municipal Planning Officer, speaking in Ho to showcase the potentials of the Municipality, said vast arable land available was 22,512.47 hectares made up of 19,068.06 hectares for crop farming and 3,444.41 hectares for livestock rearing.
He said major crops grown included rice, oil palm, citrus, mango, cocoa, banana, plantain, cassava, and maize, adding that rice was commonly and widely cultivated in towns like Alavanyo, Gbi-Atabu and Fodome.
Mr Tudoabor said the Municipality had untapped tourism potential capable of transforming its economy when fully developed.
“The beautiful landscapes and eco-tourism sites make it one of the most important tourist destinations in the country”.
He said some sites included Wli waterfall, Mountain Afadjato and Tsatsadu mini-hydro power plant at Alavanyo.
Mr Tudoabor said investment in the sector could bring a lot of dividends to potential investors and the people in the Municipality.
He said under hospitality and recreation, the Municipality had a lot of hotels and guest houses to host tourists, holiday makers and sightseers.
Mr Tudoabor said investment in hospitality facilities income could generate revenue for the Assembly and a source of employment for teeming youth.
He said the Municipality was a prime investment area for light industries such as auto-mechanics, machine shops, carpentry, fabrication welders, auto-electricians, and other artisanal works.
Mr Tudoabor said the Municipality could boast of a well-equipped Technology Solution Center and currently developing Light Industrial Park to support and grow the category of artisanal works in the Municipality.
He said participating in the last Fair created opportunities for the Municipality since exhibitors from the Municipality created a link with other exhibitors and patrons and continued to work closely with one another.
Mr Tudoabor said the participation had also led to the establishment of a rice processing factory to add value to rice production in the Municipality.
