Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Thursday opened a three-day workshop for regional public relations officers of the Ghana Police Service to meet the ever-evolving demands of society and media partners.

The course is aimed at strengthening and revamping the Public Affairs arm of the Service while enhancing communication and public engagement at all levels.

Mr Yohuno highlighted the evolution of policing in Ghana and noted the need for the Police Service to work closely with communities to foster a safe and crime-free society.

Under his leadership, the Police Administration would reactive and revive all police regional public affairs officers to interact and meet the ever-evolving demands of the society and media partners.

The IGP urged the officers to take full advantage of the workshop to refine their skills, share experiences, and adopt modern communication approaches.

He charged the officers to be guided by the core values and ethical standards of the Ghana Police Service.

Mr Yohuno called on all to ensure that their work was shaped by three pillars, the first being to protect confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information while balancing their duties with the need to remain as open and transparent as possible.

The second is to ensure that interactions with the media adhered to the highest standards of credibility, integrity and impartiality, while the third is to be consistent in police messaging across all regions and units.

The IGP was accompanied by members of the Police Management Board, including Commissioners of Police (COP) Mr Daniel Kwame Afriyie, Dr Ernest Kwabena Owusu, Mr Michael Nketia Frempong, Mr Iddi Lansah Seidu, and Mr Peter Baba Atiniak.

The others were Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOP) Dr David Agyeman Adjem,  Mr Vance Gariba, Ms Lydia Yaako Donkor, and Mr Gabriel Prince Wuabu.
