The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA), together with the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, have broken ground for the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Kpoi-Ete.

The project forms part of government’s efforts to expand access to quality primary healthcare, particularly in underserved communities.

Mr Joseph Akuerteh Tettey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpone-Katamanso speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, said the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government was development-orientated and committed to improving the wellbeing of citizens across the country.

He noted that the CHPS compound would significantly improve healthcare delivery in the Kpoi-Ete community by bringing essential services closer to residents.

The MP said access to basic healthcare was critical to national development and assured the people that the government would continue to prioritise social infrastructure, especially in deprived communities.

Mr Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), on his part, assured residents that the municipal assembly would closely supervise the project to ensure the contractor worked strictly to specification, noting that the assembly would not compromise on quality and timely delivery of the facility.

He further disclosed that plans were far advanced to construct a police station and a fire service station within the area to enhance security and emergency response.

The MCE advised the contractor to consider engaging local indigenes in the construction to help accelerate progress while providing temporary employment for the youth of the area.

Nene Tetteh Abladu II, the Kpoi-Ete Mantse, expressed appreciation to the government and the municipal assembly for the project, describing it as long overdue.

Nene Abladu appealed for swift execution to enable the facility to serve the healthcare needs of the residents.

He noted that the Kpoi-Ete community had been deprived of development for a long time and urged authorities to intensify efforts to make living conditions in the area more comfortable.

The Kpoi-Ete CHPS facility is expected to be completed within 11 months.

Kpoi-Ete, is a coastal community with a population of about 400, located along the shoreline where Kpone and Prampram share a boundary.
