As part of the Homowo celebrations, the Nokoyedzen Larteiman community near Nsawam in the Eastern Region benefited from a health screening event held at Treasure Hill Lodge by the Accra Ubuntu Lions Club.

The event was supported by Nii Lartei Nokoyedzen II, the Chief of the community, and Naa Nyonmo Wor Ko I, the Queenmother, a statement issued by the Club and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said.

“Their contributions include financial and logistical support such as providing the venue, canopies, tables, and chairs, which were instrumental in the success of the initiative” the statement said.

The Lions Club International, renowned for its global commitment to humanitarian service, played a pivotal role in organising the health screening, which aligned with its mission to serve communities and address critical health needs.

“The comprehensive health screening covered services such as random blood sugar, malaria and eye screening, typhoid fever testing, and blood pressure monitoring,” it said.

“Over 150 community members participated, receiving medications based on their diagnoses. The event spanned more than seven hours, with a dedicated medical team providing thorough and compassionate care.”

Other sponsors include the Ohio Council of Deliberation, Osah’s Home Improvement Group, Kingstreet Pharmacy Limited, Achimota Golf Hills Lions Club, Tema Industrial Lions Club, Tema Executives Lions Club, Nsawam Eastern Hills Lions Club, Accra Ubuntu Leo Club, Blue Skies, African Talent Football Academy, and Papa Krem Pizza.

“These partners contributed resources, expertise, and manpower, demonstrating the collaborative spirit that is central to the Lions Club’s efforts,” the statement said.

“Media coverage by Wor TV and Ablade TV ensured that the event reached a broad audience, amplifying the impact of the Lions Club’s work in the community. This visibility underscores the Lions Club’s dedication to public service and its role in addressing pressing health issues,” it said.

Nii Nokoyedzen and Naa Nyonmo Wor Ko expressed gratitude to the Lions Club and its partners for their commitment to the well-being of the community to build a healthier and more resilient population.

The Accra Ubuntu Lions Club reaffirmed its commitment to continuing similar projects in the future, to expand the Lions’ global mission to serve.

“This health screening is a testament to how the Lions Club, through dedication and collaboration, can create lasting positive change in communities worldwide,” the statement said.
