More than 700 sandwich students matriculate at University of Health and Allied Sciences

The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) has held a matriculation ceremony for 753 students enrolled into the sandwich session of the 2023/2024 academic year.

 

The ceremony, concurrently held at both the Ho and Hohoe campuses, 53 students were matriculated for the School of Allied Health Sciences, 513 for the School of Nursing and Midwifery and 187 for the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health.

Professor Lydia Aziato, the Vice Chancellor of the University, commended the students for selecting UHAS as their university of choice to further their studies.

 

She emphasised the university’s commitment to providing quality education, advancing knowledge through research, and improving healthcare services.

 

Prof Aziato urged the freshers to embrace innovation, acquire relevant technological skills and uphold the values of excellence, integrity and service in their academic and professional journey.

 

She urged the students to maintain a good environment and adhere to the University policies and guidelines.

 

Ms Cecilia Afi Gadese, a matriculant, speaking on behalf of her colleagues, highlighted the call to serve humanity in the healthcare profession and emphasised the importance of continuous learning and dedication.

 

At the Hohoe Campus, Professor Frank Edwin, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, said management would take steps to address the challenges facing students.

 

Mr Razak Sarkodie, a matriculant, on behalf of the freshers, expressed appreciation to UHAS for offering them the opportunity to further their education.

 

He urged his colleagues to make the best of the opportunity despite several challenges like inadequate hostel accommodation and transportation to and from campus.
