Mr Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North Constituency, has facilitated the installation of a free high-speed satellite internet facility in five schools across the Municipality.

The beneficiary institutions — Kuli-Dzogbefime M/A Basic School, Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School, Weta Senior High Technical School, Tadzewu ARS Basic School A & B, and Wovenu Senior High Technical School, have each been equipped with a complete Starlink system, including a one-year subscription sponsored by the Friends of Adaklu, with the installation costs personally covered by the MP.

The systems were supplied by Starlink and installed by professional network technicians in collaboration with the Municipal Directorate of Education, school authorities, and community representatives.

The technical team of the project explained that each installation could support more than 200 connected devices and provide adequate coverage for ICT laboratories.

It said with additional accessories, connectivity could be extended to cover entire school campuses.

The team also explained that the initiative also granted access to an online learning platform offering internationally recognised certification programmes for both teachers and students, creating opportunities for digital learning, remote work, and global engagement.

Headteachers, ICT coordinators, students, and community leaders described the intervention as transformative, noting that it represents a significant step toward bridging the digital divide in the municipality.

The project forms part of Mr Agbana’s broader agenda to promote digital education, strengthen research capacity, and equip young people with skills relevant to the modern global economy.

Sources indicate that plans are underway to expand the initiative to more schools in future phases.

The provision of reliable internet access is expected to enhance teaching and learning outcomes, boost digital literacy, and position schools in the municipality to compete effectively in an increasingly technology-driven world.
