Traders in New Patriotic Party (NPP) paraphernalia have claimed the party is gaining traction in the Volta Region, traditionally a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The vendors, mostly women, selling party-branded items such as T-shirts, hats, and flags noted a surge in sales and increased demand for NPP materials.

They spoke to Ghana News Agency during the campaign visit of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Presidential Candidate of the ruling NPP to Dzodze, Ketu North and Aflao, Ketu South to share his bold solutions for Ghana’s next chapter of development with the constituents.

“At first, you could not even bring out your goods and sell. NPP stuff, who would buy it? People would even bePolitics NPP Volta shouting at you. But now, I am amazed by the Volta Region. What I saw in Hohoe, Afadzato, and yesterday in almighty Ho and today too at Dzodze, NPP is gaining grounds,” said Madam Emelia Frimpong who had travelled from Kumasi with her wares.

Another, Madam Gina Effia who displayed her goods at the rally at Aflao said business had so far been encouraging saying, “It’s a significant change from previous years and it can only be the result of the NPP’s growing popularity.”

Mr Noble Ali Alhassan, an attendee said he expected Ketu North to vote for visionary Dr Bawumia and the NPP in the December polls to propel the constituency’ development and that of the country at large.

Mr Francis Bakpa, NPP member said it was time for people in Ketu South to switch loyalty from the NDC to the NPP to bring the needed development.

Mr Samuel Wisdom Doe Haligah, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Ketu South urged constituents to change their allegiance to the opposition NDC and support his party.

“For 32 years, we (Ketu South) have voted for the NDC. Let’s get up, visit homes, and speak to people about NPP.” he said.
