The Reverend Doctor Sampson Agbemabiese, District Head of the Assemblies of God Church, Ada, has urged the President-elect, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, to stabilise the economy and ease hardship among the people.

Rev. Dr. Agbemabiese further called on him to learn from the defeat suffered by the outgoing administration due to their unsatisfactory performance.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview, he noted that Ghanaians would not be happy if the hardship persisted in the country, stating that such economic hardships could also affect the peace and sanity of Ghana.

According to him, if fuel prices keep increasing and people could not even afford three square meals a day, and the things they used to buy again, it does not foster peace and development.

“When you have a father who does not listen to you but does things how he wants, how do you develop? That is the true reflection in the just-ended elections, and I hope the president-elect would learn from it,” he said.

Rev. Agbemabiese blamed the Ghanaians hardship on those elected to serve the nation, expressing worry that such people who loot and embezzle state funds and properties were all believers.

“Some even hold microphones and preach, but if they get the opportunity, they start to loot. Both the Qur’an and the Bible speak against stealing, but we still do that. So, the hardship is really caused mostly by the believers,” he emphasised.

He further called on the Christian community to desist from preaching wealth and concentrate on propagating salvation, as that was the only way to bring sanity to the system.

He stated that preaching salvation was the core mandate of every believer and urged religious bodies to go back to their roots, noting that preaching wealth could lead believers into doing everything to gain material things.

He expressed optimism of a better living condition in 2025 for Ghanaians, noting that the previous year was not favourable for the Ghanaian populace.
