Burma Camp-Ghana, Aug. 29,  – Mr. Benjamin Ochere, Director of HUSS Petroleum, has promised more development for their football team after emerging as the winners in the football competition, defeating Radiance Petroleum at the 2023 PETFUN games at the weekend.

Speaking at the end of the competition, said the team didn’t just play for playing sake but with tactics and qualities.

The 2023 Petroleum Fun Games (PETFUN 2023) organised by the Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMC) at the weekend ended with an exciting scene after over 40 companies competed in the friendly yet competitive field event to relieve stress and strain.

The competitors were from five camps: Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketing Companies (LPGMCs), Bulk Import, Distributing, and Export Companies (BIDECs), Tank Farms, and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

Mr. Ochere said originally that Huss Petroleum had an interest apart from dealing in the petroleum sector, in the development of professional scouts and coaches that they set aside to frame a formidable team for the 2023 PETFUN games.

He said, “We had planned to take the volleyball trophy as well as football, but we met a stronger volleyball opponent who deflated our moving moment at the semi-final stage and were eliminated.

“We are happy that we won the football trophy, an achievement that was accomplished through hard work, tenacity, perseverance, and tactical display. We have already set in place the next line of action to defend it in 2024, PETFUN”.

Assuring that they would retain the trophy next year, he thanked the Association of Oil and Marketing Companies (AOMC) for organising the Petroleum Fun Games (PETFUN 2023) to refresh their minds from all the pressure coming from the oil trading activities in the sector.

Mr. Ochere said any team that might be hoping to take the title from them won’t have it easy next year because they will be extra prepared to give an entertaining football game and to retain the champion’s position.

Other teams that participated in the 2023 PETFUN include Oil Space Ghana, Trade-Cross, Sawadigo Oil Company, Aegis & Huille Company, Benab Oil Company, the National Petroleum Authority, Cirrus Oil Services, Trinity Oil Company, GAB Energy, Vivo Energy Ghana, JO & JU Oil Company, and ZEN Petroleum.

Others are Desert Oil Ghana, GRID Petroleum Ghana, Frontier Oil Ghana, Kabore Oil, Strategic Energies, Engen Ghana, R & P Oil Company, ICON Energy, TEL Energy, Star Oil Company, and Tema Fuel Company.

The rest are Superior Oil Company, JP Trustees, Radiance Petroleum, Petro Sankofa, Fuel Trade, Petronax Energy, Frimps Oil Company, Petrosol Ghana, and IBM Petroleum.

Mr. Kwaku Agyemang-Duah, Chief Executive Officer of AOMC, said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency Tema Regional Sports Desk that the purpose of the fun games was to help competitors in the petroleum sector engage on the field in a friendly way.

Mr. Agyemang-Duah, who is also the AOMC Industry Coordinator, noted that sports serve as a rallying point for the players in the petroleum sector to build a solid foundation and work together for industrial peace.

He also commended the management of the Burma Camp Sports Complex for hosting and supporting PETFUN 2023.
