Tema-Ghana, Dec. 29, GNA – The Marathon Foundation, Ghana (MFG) has officially launched the registration portal for the fifth edition of the Kwahu Mountain Marathon, fixed for March 30th, 2024, and can be accessed at www.kwahumarathan.com or by scanning a GR-Code.

The 2024 Kwahu Marathon is on the theme “Stronger Together Running into the Future,” as part of national efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle and revamp enthusiasm for Kwahu Easter festivities.

Dr. Edward Kwadwo Boahen, Operations Director of Marathon Foundation Ghana, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview during the launch that the Marathon Foundation Ghana, in collaboration with the Kwahu Traditional Council, seeks to scale up the marathon from a festive activity to serve as a preparatory ground for national sportsmen and women to enter the international field.

He said the registration process would close on March 15th, 2024, to enable organisers, Marathon Foundation Ghana, to prepare all participants through health screening and other related training before the actual event on March 30, 2024.

“With a commitment to enhancing the event, preparations are underway to ensure a successful marathon in 2024. Registration can be completed through four convenient methods: Scan the QR Code on our promotional flyers.

“Visit our website at www.kwahumarathon.com; check out our Facebook page, “Kwahu Mountain Marathon 2024; or fill out the registration form at https://forms.gle/1Zv1ZFVjiKEPpxcs8,” he said.

Dr. Boahen noted that proper registration and health screening were mandatory, and athletes who failed to provide the required information or adhere to the rules and regulations would be automatically disqualified.

He said Marathon Foundation Ghana was working together with the Kwahu Traditional Council to organise the event, which had become a major activity for the Kwahu Easter Celebration.

He said regular running aids in weight management as it burns calories effectively and boosted metabolism; additionally, marathon training contributed to the development of strong muscles and bones, thus reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.

He said the event would start from Nkawkaw to Mpraeso, about 42 kilometres.

Dr. Boahen explained that the Marathon Foundation, Ghana, working together with the Kwahu Traditional Council, would use the marathon to create a unique platform for the youth to exhibit their talents and grab an opportunity to participate in international competitions.

He commended the board, management, and staff of GOIL PLC, StartTimes, X-Mineral Water, CPC Company, Promasidor Ghana Limited, Hollard Insurance, Ghana Gas Company, and Rollout Foundation for their generous support for the Kwahu Mountain Marathon in the past.
