Ningo-Ghana, May 14, GNA – Mr Samuel Nartey George, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, has been re-elected to represent the party in the 2024 parliamentary election.
He received 1,036 votes out of the 1,662 valid votes cast in the constituency parliamentary primary on Saturday.
Mr George, running for a third term as MP, defeated his major opponent, Mr Michael Kwetey Nartey, a former constituency chairman, with a difference of 410 votes. Mr Kwetey Nartey received 626 votes.
Supporters of the MP erupted in wild jubilation even before the official announcement of the results, having learned that he had won despite a fierce struggle with his opponent, who lost to him by just seven votes in 2019.
Mr George, after being proclaimed the winner, commended the constituency and branch executives for their support throughout the “ups and downs” of the primary.
He promised to work hard, with the support of his team, to reach the NDC’s aim of 100,000 votes in both the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2024 in the constituency and called on all to get on board.
