Tema-Ghana, Dec. 20, MNN – Organic Waakye from Meridian city of Tema became a hot nourishment at the just-ended 2022 World Cup as it stands at the FIFA Platform for food vendors worldwide was most often crowded with clients.
Mr. Ian Okwei, Chief Executive Officer of Big Joe Organic Waakye and Big Joe Gardens, Tema Community 7 told newsmen in Tema on return from Qatar said Big Joe teamed up with its partners in Dubai and Qatar to cook the delicious organic waakye.
“We set up at the Free Zones Fun Park in Alwaka and had our cabin there with an external kitchen in Mashawod. As of December 1st, all my stock was sold out,” Mr. Okwei stated.
According to Mr. Okwei, the Qatar Platform has served as an eye opener and initiation into International Business and Servitization in Food Beverages on the International Market.
He said “thank God we exceeded our target, the Big Joe team has returned home to reinvest and inject new ideas for the festive season and 2023,” he said.
He said, “initially I was a bit skeptical about how it was going to be fun watching a whole worldwide football competition with all these restrictions but upon my arrival at the Free Zones Fun Park I realized the restrictions had been exaggerated”.
Mr. Okwei said the 2022 World Cup experience was something else there was lots of freedom, entertainment, and food courts with varieties of national food including local bars that serve Ghanaian Food.
“Yes there was tight security everywhere but the people of Qatar are so receptive. No human interaction at the Airport except only one immigration officer who stamps your passport then you get out of the airport in less than 15 minutes from the flight.
“You get free sim cards at the Airport they register it instantly with your Hyya Card and you are already connected with free Internet for 48 hours then you purchase data afterward,” he recounted.
Mr. Okwei however noted that the check-in at the Fun Park was a bit tight due to the large crowd who had booked the place.
“I met this Indian Investor on Qatar Airlines as I was wearing my Big Joe Organic Waakye T’Shirt with the writing I sell organic waakye.
He approached me and asked if I could get him some to buy and I arranged some packs for him at the Free Zone Park in Doha,” he said
Mr. Okwei stressed Qatar 2022 was an experience I cannot forget.
